Note: Peer Review 3rd Party Reports - Interactive Webinar

Reviewing third party reports is essential for ensuring technical robustness, legislative compliance and quality assurance. The purpose of this seminar is to give delegates a framework for reviewing third party reports. Such as Phase 1 (desk study and walkover), Phase 2 (site investigation and risk assessment) and Phase 3 (remediation strategies and verification) reports submitted in support of planning applications and conditions. The course will highlight: • key points to look for when reviewing third party reports; and • sources of information that can be used to assist in effective report writing and reviewing. There will be several practical sessions throughout the day to practice the skills learned. Practical sessions involve reviewing hypothetical reports. By the end of the course delegates should be better able to: • evaluate the technical robustness of the third party reports; and • ensure that all necessary aspects of the site investigation, risk assessment, and risk management processes are reported to an acceptable standard. The seminar is best taken as the fifth and final module of the EMAQ ‘Essentials of CLM’ course. The ‘Essentials of CLM’ training package, which is endorsed by the CIEH, is designed around the framework DEFRA proposed as part of the outcome of their research project on skills in contaminated land management (SP 1003). However, the seminar can be taken as a stand alone module by delegates with a pre-existing technical knowledge of land contamination management, including guidance such as CLR11, BS10175, current statistics guidance, the CLEA guidance (SR2 and SR3) and the basis for the C4SLs.
