The availability of low cost sensors for air quality monitoring has expanded rapidly in recent years and the latest sensors offer an innovative approach to local air quality assessment. Low cost sensors can be programmed to record short-term concentration information, which can be used to help in the understanding of localised emissions under different circumstances. This mini-webinar will provide an insight into some of varieties of low cost sensors, and discuss some of the advantages they offer over traditional passive diffusion tube measurements. We will also consider where they can be deployed, how much they cost and some of the technical requirements, including installation, maintenance and QA/QC. The webinar will aim to help Local Authorities to decide how low cost sensors could be used to supplement their existing air quality monitoring networks.
