This webinar describes the siting protocols for diffusion tube monitoring and shows worked examples of data management procedures in support of Local Air Quality Management. This includes a description of the do’s and don’ts of siting diffusion tubes, with reference to siting criteria and examples of good and poor siting. Also included is best practice in record keeping and processes in the deployment of tubes in the field. The webinar will focus primarily on the management of diffusion tube data, and will go through a step by step spreadsheet process of bias adjustment of diffusion tubes. This includes the calculation of local bias adjustment factors and the use of a national bias adjustment factor. It will also cover how to deal with missing and anomalous data and how to check calculations.
