This webinar will explore the UK Government's Clean Air Strategy that was published in January 2019 and sets out the future direction of policy on tackling air pollution in the UK. The strategy builds on the Government’s plan for tackling road side NO2 exceedances, looking at a wider set of emissions including PM and VOCs, as well as drawing links to action to manage carbon emissions. The final strategy was published alongside a National Air Pollution Control Programme and underpinned by new clean air legislation to create a stronger and more coherent framework for tackling air pollution. The webinar will set out the key health and ecological impacts that the strategy is aiming to address and detail the proposed measures covering the key sectors on transport, domestic emissions, industry and agriculture. The implications of the strategy for local authorities will be explored considering: • A new national data portal for national and local air quality data; • Potential changes to the LAQM regime; • The integration of Clean Air Zones, AQMAs and smoke control areas into a single designation; • A new legislative framework for tackling air quality.
