The webinar will ensure that delegates understand how to effectively manage and discharge the duties required of them as authorised officers in respect of Pollution Prevention and Control. We will discuss management issues such as performance management techniques, partnership working and the auditing and peer review of the Pollution Prevention and Control function as well as the practical issues of managing site inspections and the relationship between the operator and regulator. The interface between development control and PPC will be examined to establish which has priority and how they work in a complementary manner with statutory nuisance. The webinar will complete with what happens when relations (and/or performance) break down with the potential for subsequent enforcement action. Throughout the webinar we will use ‘real life’ case studies to illustrate all aspects discussed this. seminar also provides delegates with the opportunity to raise issues from the whole of the PPC essentials course, particularly aimed at those who would like to take the final Proficiency Test. On completion of the webinar attendees will have: • gained a better understanding of how to performance manage the PPC function • an appreciation of some of the more important do’s and don’ts of inspection and working with operators; • an understanding of the expectations, within authorities and by Defra, of PPC managers. • an awareness of the pro’s and con’s of the enforcement tools at their disposal; • an appreciation of what to expect when taking a case to court; • an understand of how planning legislation and PPC interface
